
The Kaštela City Library invites you to the opening of the exhibition Croatian Units on the Soča Front of the Kobarid Museum of the First World War from Slovenia. The opening of the exhibition with a 20-minute multimedia presentation, which will include numerous photographs of Croats who fought on the Soča Front in the First World War, which are kept in the Kobarid Museum's holdings, will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at 18 p.m. in the Archbishop's Castle in Kaštel Sućurac.
Director of the Kobarid Museum of the First World War, mag. Martin Šolar will introduce attendees to the theme of the exhibition Croatian units on the Soča Front and the work of the Kobarid Museum of the First World War, while Renata Dobrić, director of the Kaštela City Library and editor of the book Letters from Grandpa Miloš from World War I to introduce those present to the creation of the aforementioned book, which brings together letters and postcards that Miloš Mandić Sr., a resident of Vranjic, sent from the Soča battlefield and from captivity to his family in Vranjic.
The monograph with authentic testimony was published by the Kaštela City Library, the book was edited and prepared for printing by Renata Dobrić, who is also the author of the foreword, while she is the initiator of the entire project. Milos Mandic younger, grandson of Grandpa Miloš, who collected all the letters and postcards, and processed numerous data from the aforementioned correspondence, so the monograph contains a list of 140 mobilized people mentioned by Grandpa Miloš in his letters, an index with around 450 names and surnames and 85 toponyms, as well as a dictionary with 1580 Vranjica words.
The musical part of the program will feature the Folk Singers of the Parish of St. George - Kaštel Sućurac.
