The second route via Sućurac to the bridge is still in the research phase.
The works on the construction of the Kozjak tunnel and the access road to the D8 in Kambelovac, which are being carried out by the Chinese company CRBC, were visited today by the County Prefect Blaženko Boban, his deputy Ante Šošić, the Mayor of Klis Municipality Jakov Vetma, and the President of the Management Board of Hrvatske Ceste Ivica Budimir. The works include the construction of the 2,5-kilometer Kozjak tunnel and a 4,2-kilometer access road that will lead to the D8 road in Kambelovac.
So far, a 1,5-kilometer tunnel and a 1,7-kilometer service pipe have been drilled. A tour of the works was organized together with the media, and as you can hear, everyone has only words of praise for this project, which will cost around 120 million euros, and the construction deadline is mid-April 2027. The project is commissioned by Hrvatske ceste, the designer AB OVO projekt Ltd., supervised by Geokon-Zagreb, and the contractor CRBC.

After touring the tunnel tube, County Prefect Boban said that they were happy and proud of everything they could see and that they were very satisfied with the tunnel-breaking works, which should be completed in April, possibly in May of next year. And he was especially looking forward, as he said, to seeing the light from the tunnel towards the Kaštela side.
- We are extremely satisfied and happy with these works here. People introduced us to a number of details and activities, and we saw that the works are being carried out at a really high level, both in terms of throughput and in all other aspects. I would not praise them until the project is completed, but I can say that we really have no additional comments, the works are of high quality and are being carried out very well. We hope that we will soon see the light from the Kaštela side - said the Prefect of the Split-Dalmatia County Blaženko Boban, adding that this project is significant and valuable for the Dalmatian hinterland, but also as a second entrance to the city of Split.
The second route via Sućurac to the bridge is still in the research phase.
We asked Boban what happened to the second route that would go through Sućurac to the bridge over the Kaštela Bay, which is in the county's Spatial Development Plan.
- Yes, it is currently in the existing plan, but we are now in the phase of amending and supplementing the spatial planning documentation. I will also mention that the Split-Dalmatia County has adopted a Spatial Plan, or rather amendments to the Spatial Plan, in the last three years, and the needs of the market and the situation on the ground are such that we are already starting new amendments and supplements. As for that route, it is present in the Spatial Plan, but it is in the investigation phase. So, the route should first be investigated, a traffic and feasibility study should be made, and only then should it be incorporated as a permanent route into the spatial plan or not, depending on these studies - concluded Boban.
In the first quarter of next year, a tender for the last 600 meters of the route, i.e. the junction on the D8
As work continues on the route towards the D8 after the tunnel construction, the president of the Croatian Roads Management Board, Ivica Budimir, added that in the first quarter of next year, they will announce a tender for the last 600 meters, or rather for the junction to the Kaštela state road D8 itself, thus completing this project. Budimir also touched on the construction of the bridge over the Kaštela Bay.
Budimir: Bids for the bridge over the Kaštela Bay will be opened on October 25th
- We expect the opening of conceptual, or preliminary designs, on October 25th for the bridge over the Kaštela Bay, so that we can see what the bidders will prepare for us. After that, we will choose the optimal solution for Croatian Roads, start preparing the preliminary design and complete the environmental impact study. Of course, this will be followed by the construction of the bridge, which will take several years. It is not something that can be completed immediately, but I want you to know what is being worked on.
Budimir added that in the period from 2016 to 2025, Croatian Roads invested 270 million in the construction and renovation of roads in the Split-Dalmatia County, and that in the next ten years, investments in transport infrastructure will reach around 735 million euros.
