On the occasion of World Homeless Day, which is celebrated every year on October 10, a reception was held at the City Administration of the City of Kaštela, where Mayor Denis Ivanović and Head of the City Antonia Kljaić welcomed the beneficiaries of the St. Jerome Association shelter. The beneficiaries arrived accompanied by the president of the association, Bernarda Janković, and the meeting was spent in a pleasant conversation about their daily challenges and needs.
The St. Jerome Association Shelter was opened in 2013 and has since provided accommodation, support and care to people without a suitable home and safe living conditions.
On that occasion, Mayor Ivanović, on behalf of the City, presented the beneficiaries with financial support, emphasizing how important it is to constantly care for and show understanding to people in difficult life circumstances.
– Although I often meet with beneficiaries through the work of the association, I wanted to express my respect and gratitude to them with this reception. Each of their stories is a reminder of how quickly life circumstances can change, and it is our duty to provide them with support and help in exercising their rights and living a dignified life – said Mayor Ivanović.
On behalf of the shelter's users, Željko thanked the City and the Association for their support:
– We thank the association and the city administration for thinking of us and taking care of us. We try to be active, work and maintain humanity and mutual respect. A big thank you to everyone – said Željko.
Users of the Shelter of the Association of St. Jeronim, in addition to having accommodation and daily support, actively participate in various workshops and activities that help them in social reintegration. Within the shelter, they arrange a garden where they grow their own vegetables, participate in photography workshops, visit museums and other institutions, and get involved in various socially beneficial actions.
Today, they will also be in Split, where the MoSt Association is organizing the celebration of World Homeless Day, in which representatives of the St. Jerome Association will also participate.
